To say the least, it has been another incredible year for Loyola Marymount University. Although it may ruffle the feathers of some of our neighbors, the academic year that is now drawing to a close can best be defined by growth.

Whether it be the unveiling of the Master Plan, the addition of a provost, library construction or a record number of undergraduate applicants, LMU is changing, and progressing, before our very own eyes.

More than nine months ago, I set foot on this campus as a student. Only after a hectic summer of filling out last-minute paperwork for LMU, purchasing amenities for my dorm room and stalking my then-future roommate on Facebook. This was after several visitations, during which I marveled at the beauty of the campus and wondered how anyone could ever get tired of the Lair.

I can't believe how fast the time has gone. It seems like just yesterday I drove up to campus at 8 a.m. on the Friday of move-in day as an over-eager, super excited freshman. But just as quickly as I unpacked my boxes in Sullivan four years ago, I'm packing them back up for good as I say good-bye to LMU, Los Angeles and California.

Normally, I tend to stay away from comics published by the big two (Marvel and DC) for numerous reasons. These include, but are not limited to: product placement, convoluted plots and, arguably, far less innovation. But on rare occasions, like when I'm feeling nostalgic, or can't resist the urge to indulge in some classic superhero tales, I've been known to pick up a few "Batman" titles here and there.

It's not often that coaches stay in one place for a long period of time, which is why Joe Paterno has become synonymous with Penn State football. Similarly, Head Coach Jamie Sanchez has become the face for LMU's tennis program.

Coach Sanchez graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 1975 and became the first head coach of the women's tennis program in 1976.

LMU pulled out a victory over No. 7 UC Irvine on Tuesday thanks to some clutch hitting. The Lions scored 10 runs with two outs, compiling 17 hits, the most UCI has surrendered all season.

Senior A.J. LaMonda and sophomore Angelo Songco each had three hits while Sean Dovel, Matt Koch and Ryan Wheeler had two hits of their own.
