On March 23, a body recovered from the Scioto River was identified as Amber Evans, a community activist who went missing on Jan. 28. She played a key role in organizing protests and in other activism work since 2011.
Discrimination against Disabled Renters
Although L.A. is developing low-income apartments that are more affordable, they are failing to take into account wheelchair users, those with hearing impairments and other disabilities. City officials are failing to build kitchens, balconies, bathrooms and other living spaces that are safely accessible to those with disabilities.

On March 29, Nevada politician Lucy Flores recalled a moment before her campaign speech in 2014 when Biden put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her head. On April 1, Amy Lappos from Connecticut also disclosed an event where Biden touched her in a way she did not appreciate.
A 1960s Freedom Rider, Fertig passed away on April 1 from Parkinson’s disease at the age of 89. He fought for the homeless in L.A. as well as for equal rights in the Deep South. Fertig also fought the Patriot Act, taking it to the Supreme Court and advocating for the Kurds.
