LMU Sports: Week of April 5th

After taking two of three from San Diego, The 13-15 Lions baseball team returns home to face UC Riverside and San Francisco.


The men's golf team is spending Monday and Tuesday in Seattle, WA as they face off in the Seattle University Redhawks Invitational hosted by Seattle University. The Lions are among 15 other teams including No. 27-ranked University of Washington. After the first round of play today, the Lions are currently sitting in 14th place at +30 over par. Washington leads with +14 over par.

Men's Tennis

The No. 68 LMU men's tennis team will be at home for three games this week. They play a non-conference match on Monday against UC Irvine at 1 p.m., a West Coast Conference (WCC) match against Gonzaga University on Friday, also at 1 p.m., and finally another WCC matchup against the University of Portland on Saturday at 12 p.m. The Lions beat Saint Mary's University on the road over the weekend by 4-0 to extend their WCC record to 2-2.

Women's Tennis

After picking up two WCC wins at home over the weekend, the Lions will look to carry that momentum into conference play this week as they go on the road to Gonzaga and Portland. The Lions are now 2-1 in conference play.


The Lions picked up a 2-1 road series win at the University of San Diego this past weekend. They play one non-conference game on Tuesday at home against UC Riverside this week, as well as a three-game WCC weekend series at home against the University of San Francisco. Baseball sits at 5-4 in WCC play.


Softball begins WCC play this weekend as they take on the reigning champions of the conference, BYU, on the road. The two day trip includes a doubleheader on Saturday. The Lions are 22-16 overall this year, 11-6 at home and 1-3 on the road.

Women's Water Polo

After a hard-fought loss against No. 12 Pacific University on Friday, the Lions bounced back on Saturday defeating Santa Clara 10-7. The Lions are now 9-16 overall and 2-2 in the Golden Coast Conference. They face off against UC Irvine Friday at home at 4 p.m. and then get on the road and travel to Azusa Pacific Saturday for a 12 p.m. game.

Beach Volleyball

Beach volleyball dropped two games and won one at the Zuma Classic in Malibu, CA over the weekend. This weekend, they play two games at home at Manhattan Beach. They face Long Beach State and Colorado Mesa on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. On Saturday, they'll finish off their weekend with the USAV Invitational all day at Hermosa Beach.
